places of interest to visit

There are so many places to visit in and around the Maremma in Tuscany, that it is just choosing where to start. Here is a list of some historic towns and cities as well as quirky parks and thermal springs.

Grosseto

This is our local city which is a lovely place to wander around, have an evening meal, go to market day on Thursday morning (early), catch a train to Rome. We usually park in Parcheggio Porta Corsica (below) but that is where the market is on Thursday, so you will have to park elsewhere on market day.

Other towns and cities

Siena; Pereta (cute little hill town); Magliano in Toscana; Porto Santo Stefano; Porto Ercole; Capalbio; Castiglione della Pescaia; Massa Marittima; Montalcino; Manciano

Hot springs and other places

We love the springs at Saturnia. It's all free and there's a bar that serves drinks and delicious sandwiches.

Don't miss Il Giardino dei Tarocchi, a completely mad and glorious sculpture park.

Other nice hot springs are at San Cascaino dei Bagni where they've also just discovered some stunning Roman Bronzes.
